De groep debuteert in 2002 met "Ghost Hunt Migration", dat de groep laat horen als eem singer/songwriter gezelschap met sterke rootspop- en americana-invloeden. Grote man achter Big Low is de Australier Dan Tuffy die voorheen als bassist bij Wild Pumpkins at Midnight fungeerde. Daarnaast runt hij een eigen platenlabel: Smoked Recordings.
