biografische gegevens van god dethroned God Dethroned is een Nederlandse metalband rond zanger Henri Sattler en gitarist Jens van der Valk. De groep debuteert in 1992 met "The Christhunt": zuivere, bizarre deathmetal die de spot drijft met het christelijk geloof. Na haar debuut valt God Dethroned snel uit elkaar, maar wordt in het midden van de jaren negentig opnieuw opgericht. Dit leidt in 1997 tot het album "The Grand Grimoire". Hierop vinden we een combinatie van death-, trash- en blackmetal, die makkelijker in het gehoor ligt dan de muziek die men voorheen maakte. Het album "Bloody Blasphemy" uit 1999 continueert deze lijn. De groep gaat op Europese tournee met Morbid Angel en in de Verenigde Staten trekt men op met Cannibal Corpse. In 2000 wordt begonnen met de opnamen van "Ravenous". Kort hiervoor heeft drummer Roel Sanders de groep echter verlaten. Het album wordt daarom opgenomen met ex-Angelcorpse drummer Tony Laureano. Als "Ravenous" in 2001 verschijnt is Laureano alweer vertrokken (naar Nile). De nieuwe drummer die mee op tournee gaat is de Zweedse The Crown-drummer Janne Saarenpaa.
