biografische gegevens van occult Occult is een Nederlandse doom metalband uit 1994. In dat jaar debuteert de groep met "Prepare to meet thy doom". Lekkere thrashy doommetal die in 1996 een opvolger krijgt in "The enemy within". Voornaamste leden binnen de band zijn zanger Sephiroth, zeg maar Maurice Swinkels, zangeres Rachel Heyzer en gitarist Leon Pennings. Vooral door toedoen van Leon Pennings verschijnen op de CD "Of Flesh and Blood" uit 1999 een aantal rustige, meer technische, instrumentale tussenstukken. Er ontstaat onenigheid over de koers van de groep en Leon Pennings wordt uit de band gezet. In 2001 blijkt Rachel Heyzer als nieuwe zangeres van Sinister te functioneren. In 2006 verandert de groep haar naam in Legion of the Damned.
