biografische gegevens van oscar benton Oscar Benton (1949) is het pseudoniem van blueszanger/gitarist Ferdinand van Eif uit Haarlem. Oscar verwerft sinds 1968 bekendheid binnen de Nederlandse bluesscene met zijn Oscar Benton Blues Band. Deze groep brengt meerdere albums uit en kent naast Oscar aanvankelijk de volgende musici: pianist Barrelhouse Bailey, (=Han van Dam), bassist Hank J.B. Hawkins, drummer Lonesome Tanny Lant. Later verschijnen ook gitarist/bassist Guus Laporte, gitarist Johnny Laporte, bassist/drummer Jay Walker (=Jan Willem Sligting) en saxofonist Ruud Brink nog in de band. Vanaf 1972 speelt Oscar Benton ook vaak zonder zijn band. Hij maakt dan een behoorlijk aantal singles. Een heruitgave van "Bensonhurst blues" verschijnt in december 1981 in de top-40. Bovendien komen we hem in de periode 1972-1974 tegen in een samenwerking met Monica Verschoor. Het duo gaat onder de naam Oscar & Monica. In 1979 bevindt Oscar Benton zich in de groep Benton's Boobytrap en verschijnt van die groep de single "You and I". muziekbase Ain't love the key All by myself Are you ready Are you ready ?
