biografische gegevens van pestilence Pestilence is een Nederlandse deathmetal-groep die in 1986 wordt opgericht. De groep uit de omgeving van Enschede debuteert in 1988 met het album "Malleus Maleficarum". De groep bestaat dan uit: PATRICK MAMELI: gitaar RANDY MEINHARD: gitaar MARTIN VAN DRUNEN: bas MARCO FODDIS: drums De Duitser Meinhard verlaat al snel de groep. We vinden hem later terug in Sacrosanct en zijn plaats wordt ingenomen door Patrick Uterwijk, een gitarist afkomstig uit de groep Theriac. In 1989 verschijnt het tweede album van de groep "Consuming impulse". Bassist Van Drunen is een prima 'grommer', maar het is wel het laatste album van de groep waarop hij te horen is. In 1991 vertrekt hij naar Asphyx. Op opvolger "Testimony of the ancient" (1991) is Van Drunen niet meer te horen. Mameli, Uterwijk en Foddis moeten het met een tijdelijke invaller doen: Tony Choy (bassist van Cynic). Maar het resultaat is prima. Het is dan ook niet voor niets in Florida opgenomen, onder leiding van Scott Burns. In 1993 zijn verschijnt "Spheres".
