biografische gegevens van impressions The Impressions zijn een Amerikaanse vocalgroep die ontstaat uit de (jeugd)vriendschap van Curtis Mayfield en Jerry Butler. Aanvankelijk heette de groep "Jerry Butler & the Impressions", maar als Butler solo gaat worden de Impressions omgevormd tot trio met Mayfield als zanger. The Impressions zetten zich af tegen de heersende rhythm & blues uit hun tijd (jaren '60). De stem van Curtis Mayfield was te zacht voor dat ruwe werk.
