biografische gegevens van janis ian Janis Ian is een Amerikaanse singer/songwriter die in 1951 als Janis Eddy Fink in New York City word geboren. Reeds op 16-jarige leeftijd wordt zij een beroemdheid. Dat dankzij het nummer "Society Child", over een blank meisje dat verliefd wordt op een zwarte jongen. (In 1966 een gevoelig thema!!). Janis Ian maakt in de periode 1967-1971 een 4-tal lp's waaruit een ding duidelijk blijkt: ze is nog niet rijp voor het grote publiek. Die doorbraak vindt pas in 1974 plaats met het album "Stars". In de late jaren 70 levert levert Janis Ian jaarlijks een album af. Het is duidelijk dat haar talent volop tot ontplooiing komt. En dan is het in de jaren '80 plotseling stil.
