biografische gegevens van paul young Paul Young wordt in 1956 in Engeland geboren. Reeds op jeugdige leeftijd leert hij piano en gitaar spelen. In 1979 vinden we hem als zanger van de Streetband en in 1980 bij de soulgroep Q-Tips. Daarna gaat hij solo. Paul Young breekt in 1983 door als zijn single "Wherever I Lay My Hat" de eerste plaats bereikt van de Engelse hitlijsten. Hij wordt verwelkomd als een blanke soul-zanger. Vanaf 1983 scoort Paul Young jaarlijks een aantal hits. Aanvankelijk nummers van anderen, later ook eigen werk. In de beginjaren treedt Paul Young op met een begeleidingsgroep die bestaat uit: IAN KEWLEY: keyboards .. ex-q-tips PINO PALLADINO: fretless bass MARC PINDER: drums In 1985 treedt Paul Young op het popfestival van Torhout/Werchter op.
