biografische gegevens van george baker George Baker is een pseudoniem van de in 1944 in Hoorn geboren Hans Bouwens. Hans speelt aanvankelijk in de soulgroep Soul Invention, maar eind jaren zestig richt hij zijn eigen popgroep op: George Baker Selection GEORGE BAKER: zang LIDA BOND: zang GEORGE THE: gitaar JACQUES GREUTER: keyboards MARTIN SCHOEN: bas JAN HOP: drums Vanaf 1969 blijkt de muzikale koers van de George Baker Selection niet alleen in Nederland, maar over de gehele wereld aan te slaan. Reeds 'Little green bag' verschijnt in de Verenigde Staten in de top 10. In 1971 brengt Hans Bouwens een nederlandstalig singletje uit onder de artiestennaam Hans Bus. In de daarop volgende jaren verschijnen op de Duitse markt een aantal Selection-songs onder de afgekorte naam 'George Baker'. In de jaren 1978-1981 maakt George Baker enige platen als solo-artiest.
