biografische gegevens van phil collins PHIL COLLINS is een Engelse popmusicus die vanaf 1970 in de voorste regionen van de popmuziek te vinden is. In dat jaar stapt hij namelijk over van FLAMING YOUTH naar Genesis waar hij drummer John Mayhew opvolgt. Phil Collins drumt vanaf 1970 bij Genesis. Hij speelt er oa. samen met Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks Mike Rutherford en Steve Hackett. Als Peter Gabriel in 1975 de groep verlaat blijkt Collins een geschikte vervanger. Daarnaast begint Collins met Brand X aan een soort hobby-band, waar gepoogd wordt een sythese te scheppen tussen symfonische rock en jazz-rock. In Brand X speelt hij oa. samen met JOHN GOODALL, ROBIN LUMLEY, PERCY JONES en MORRIS PERT. Als de groep in 1980 uit elkaar valt, verschijnt al snel het eerste solo-album van Phil Collins. Phil Collins zal een erg succesvolle solo-carriere opbouwen, zonder Genesis te verlaten.
