biografische gegevens van tori amos Tori Amos is een Amerikaanse domineesdochter uit North Carolina. Tori stamt nog gedeeltelijk af van de Cherokee-indianen. Reeds op zeer jeugdige leeftijd (5!) studeert ze aan het conservatorium, maar aan de invloed van pop en rock zal ze toch niet ontkomen. Tori Amos, die om aan de kost te komen ook enige tijd in een homobar gespeeld heeft, brengt in 1980 haar eerste plaatje uit: 'Baltimore'. Spoedig daarna trekt ze naar Los Angeles waar ze het rock & roll-album "Y Kant Tori Read" maakt. De plaat doet echter niet. Na de flop van rock & roll richt Tori Amos zich meer op de luisterpop. En met succes: in 1991 verschijnt "Little Earthquakes", in 1993 gevolgd door "Under the pink".
