biografische gegevens van gigantjes De Gigantjes is een Nedelandse popgroep uit het midden van de jaren tachtig. Men debuteert in 1985 met tientallen jaren oude Amerikaanse rhythm & blues. De groep wordt opgericht door Rob Kruisman en Arti Kraaijeveld, twee muzikanten die bij de Bintangs en Carlsberg hun sporen al ruimschoots verdiend hebben. Belangrijkste blikvanger van de groep is zangeres Mieke Stemerdink. In 1987 krijgt de groep een baantje bij de VARA als huisorkest bij de Nachtshow. Bekendheid en populariteit nemen hierdoor nog verder toe.
