biografische gegevens van lee towers Lee Towers (1946) is een Nederlandse zanger die vanaf 1975 in de schijnwerpers komt te staan als vertolker van vnl. klassieke amerikaanse songs in de trant van Frank Sinatra. Lee's werkelijke naam luidt Leen Huyzer en hij komt uit Ridderkerk. In de periode 1961-1975 vinden we Leen al in een aantal dansorkesten en popgroepen als de Swallows (werd later Jumping Dynamites). In de periode 1966-1967 trad Leen op als Ted Jones en hij werd toen begeleid door de Utrechtse beatgroep Driftin' Five en nog later treffen we hem in Smash. In 1971 maakt Leen de single "Nina Nina Nina" en gebruikt daarbij het pseudoniem Len Hauser. In al deze jaren blijft Leen gewoon werkzaam als kraandrijver en onderhoudsmonteur. In 1975 komt echter de doorbraak: Leen krijgt de mogelijkheid samen met orkestleider Mat Mathews een album met evergreens op te nemen. Lee Towers is geboren, zeker nadat Willem Duys de nieuwe zanger aan het Nederlandse publiek heeft voorgesteld. In 1976 wint Lee Towers een belangrijk internationaal songfestival te Sofia. In 1986 maken Lee Towers & Anita Meyer het album "Run to me".
