biografische gegevens van bzn BZN is een Nederlandse popgroep die in 1965 word opgericht te Volendam. Deze 'Band Zonder Naam' begint als een rockgroep en bestaat in de allereerste beginperiode uit: JAN VEERMAN: zang CEES TOL: gitaar EVERT WOESTENBURG: gitaar JAN TUIJP: basgitaar GERRIT WOESTENBURG: drums In de volgende jaren wisselt de groep regelmatig van bezetting en ook het repertoire ondergaat een verandering. De neven Woestenburg hebben reeds voor 1970 de band verlaten. Dat geldt ook voor de nieuwe drummer Jaap Sombroek. Deze laatste drumde twee jaar bij BZN, maar vertrok in 1969 naar het eveneens uit Volendam afkomstige Left Side. Vanaf 1969 zit Jan Keizer achter de drums. In ditzelfde jaar doet Thomas Tol zijn intrede als gitarist. Zo kent de groep enige jaren een stabiele bezetting. Midden jaren zeventig vertrekt zanger Jan Veerman. Drummer Jan Keizer neemt nu de zang voor zijn rekening. Vrij snel hierna wordt besloten een zangeres aan te trekken die Jan moet bijstaan. Men probeert het met Marietje Kwakman, maar reeds na 13 weken wordt deze vervangen door Anny Schilder. Acht jaar lang (1976-1984) kent de groep nu een stabiele bezettingen en bouwt een repertoire op dat gehoord mag worden. De rockinvloeden zijn verdwenen. De nadruk komt te liggen op de vokale samenzang van Jan Keizer en Annie Schilder. De groep bestaat in deze periode uit: JAN KEIZER: zang ANNY SCHILDER: zang CEES TOL: gitaar THOMAS TOL: gitaar, toetsen JAN TUIJP: basgitaar JACK VEERMAN: drums In 1984 verlaat Anny Schilder wegens zwangerschap de groep. Haar opvolgster is Carola Smit. Vier jaar laten vertrekken ook de broers Cees en Thomas Tol. Samen gaan zij de groep Tol & Tol vormen. De ontstane vacatures worden opgevuld door gitarist Dirk van der Horst (ex-Dizzy Man's Band) en toetsenist Dick Plat. De populariteit van BZN is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot ongekende hoogte. De samenzang van Jan Keizer en Carola Smit werkt betoverend vooral bij de franstalige songs die vooral door toedoen van Jan Keizer een steeds belangrijkere rol binnen het repertoire krijgen. De nieuwe succesvolle periode duurt tot 2004. Dan overlijdt gitarist Dirk van der Horst. John Meijer, die reeds in 2003 tot de groep is toegetreden, wordt zijn vervanger. In 2005 viert BZN haar 40-jarig bestaan.
