biografische gegevens van thijs van leer Thijs van Leer (1948) is een Nederlandse musicus die vooral bekend is door zijn werk op de dwarsfluit. Thijs van Leer krijgt al op zeer jonge leeftijd pianolessen. Na het gymnasium gaat hij eerst kunstgeschiedenis studeren, om vervolgens naar het Amsterdams Conservatorium te gaan. Eind jaren zestig is de conservatorium- opleiding achter de rug en begint Thijs van Leer op te treden als begeleider van Ramses Shaffy. De intense samenwerking duurt enige jaren waarna Thijs eerst het Thijs van Leer Trio opricht, dat na toetreding van Jan Akkerman in 1969 overgaat in Focus, een symfonische rockgroep die intenationale successen (oa. USA) zal kennen. Vanaf 1972 werkt Thijs van Leer ook als solo-artiest. Zijn 'Introspection'-serie (met populair-klassiek materiaal) is goed voor hoge verkoopcijfers. In 1985 neemt hij opnieuw een album op in het verlangde van Focus: Jan Akkerman/Thijs van Leer komen met het album "Focus".
