biografische gegevens van mai tai MAI TAI is een Nederlandse popgroep die in 1983 debuteert met de single 'keep on dancin'. De groep heeft het vooral voorzien op het disco/soul gebeuren en bestaat uit 3 zangeressen: JETTY WEELS MILDRED DOUGLAS CAROLIEN DE WINDT Weels komt uit Suriname, Douglas en De Windt komen van Curacao. Voor het ontstaan van Mai Tai waren de dames al als achtergrondzangeressen aktief. Mai Tai is in de periode 1985-1987 zeer succesvol Ook internationaal: met de single "History" scoort de groep ook in de USA en Engeland. Na 1987 wordt het minder. In 1989 beginnen Douglas en Weels een solocarriere. Weels gebruikt daarvoor het pseudoniem OSCARE.
